I've Got a Feeling
February brought our first big snowfall of the season. Jacob woke up in the morning, ran to the window, looked out over the white blanket of snow on our yard and squealed, "Oh, this just tickles my feelings!"

Tomatoes
During the last tornado scare in April, we had the TV on for several hours while we were monitoring the storms. Jacob watched with great fascination before commenting, "The red on the screen means there's lots of thunder and lightning and tomatoes!"
Unexpected Event
The family had just sat down to the table for a peaceful dinner together when Jacob jerked upright. "Excuse me," he quickly remarked. "My bum just burped."
Free as a Bird
Shortly before Jacob turned 3, Amy was headed out to the garage to load up the boys in the van. With Caleb on her hip, she turned to push the automatic garage door opener on the wall. By the time she turned around, Jacob had made a beeline to the rising garage door, had grabbed onto the bottom of the door, and was being lifted off the ground while yelling, "MOMMY, I FLY! I FLY!!" By the time Amy made it to him, he was at shoulder height and Amy had to grab hold of his waist to get him to release his grip on the door.
Happy Hour
Amy told the kids that they were headed to Sonic to get some slushies during Happy Hour. Jacob looked perplexed and asked Amy, "Mommy, what's Sad Hour?"
It's OK Officer...
We were driving home one night and the following conversation took place:
Jacob- Daddy, you need to go super fast. Go the speed lemon.
Me- You mean the speed limit.
Jacob- No Daddy. You have to go slow when you go the speed limit. The speed lemon lets you go fast. You need to go the speed LEMON!

Dung Beetle
Tonight Hannah was reading a book about insects to Jacob. Jacob jumped off the bed and ran into the hall where he said, "Daddy! Did you know some beetles eat poop?? I'm going to go tell Mommy and she is going to FREAK OUT!!"
When I was a baby...
Jacob was watching a baby suck her thumb and remarked, "When I was a baby, I used to suck on my hands and it tasted like rocks and trees and cars and chicken and candy and stuff."

The Resurrection
Jacob was in Sunday School the week after Easter. His teacher was reviewing the Easter story from the week before. The teacher put a picture of a cross on the board. Jacob raised his hand and told the teacher, "Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again while we were outside looking for Easter eggs."
